2010 IARSLCE Annual Conference Call For Proposals (Extended Deadline)

Extended deadline: March 29, 2010

The 2010 International Association for Research on Service-learning and Community Engagement (IARSLCE) Annual Conference will take place from October 28-31, 2010 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

The featured theme is International Perspectives: Crossing Boundaries through Research. Service-learning is valued as an active learning strategy across the globe; however, little is known about the ways that service-learning is similar or different in varied contexts. Understanding service-learning and community engagement from diverse cultural perspectives will add insight necessary for comparative research and to improve practice.

Proposals will be accepted beginning Monday, January 15, 2010. Due to some technical difficulties, there is an extension for proposal submissions. To be considered, all proposals must be received via electronic submission by 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time) Monday, March 29, 2010.

Call for Proposals: 6th Annual Symposium on Service Learning & Civic Engagement

Deadline: April 5, 2010

The Symposium on Service Learning & Civic Engagement provides a forum for scholarly discussion of issues, perspectives, and best practices in service learning. It also facilitates the exchange of information and ideas on innovative and creative civic engagement strategies and programs. The proposal should be based on a service-learning/civic engagement program, project (including research), or course and may address the Symposium theme in various ways. It should deal with specific pedagogical issues or perspectives on student learning emerging from service-learning/civic engagement research or practice.
